Nova Scotia Old Farm Collies

Erika DuBois sends news of the puppies sired by her Nova Scotia old farm collie, Prince; the mother is Molly, an English Shepherd:

"Of the eight pups born 28 Dec. 96 -- 2 males, 6 females -- two are within 15 min. of home. The owners, mostly farmers with livestock, are all very enthusiastic about them and think they're bright and easy-going. The pup I kept is a good mix of qualities from each parent -- looks just like Prince and has Molly's more sedate style and learns very quickly. There has been intense local interest in my dogs, as so many people here remember the old type and I am building quite a collection of photos of them. For these 8 I had more than 40 calls and was able to choose homes where they would be able to develop their working ability, and not be spayed or castrated in a hurry.

"Tom Maxwell has sent me material on the Welsh dog which looks a likely prospective contributor of genes, and I have friends in the U.K. on the alert for old collie types. Closer to home, I've found a brother to Kennedy's King. So things are shaping up for another generation!"
